High potential of winter durum wheat

This year has proven to be tough for breeding crops of winter durum wheat in Krasnodar region.

The soil is cracked to unimaginable extent. Grain is already in waxy ripeness state, yet plants lack green leaves. Several photos have been taken with mercury hitting 41 Centigrade in the shade.

Early Spring frosts hit the region hard late March and early April with drought striking subsequently. These 2020 Weather calamities have created perfect conditions to put the survivability of new varieties to the limit: the yield potential and grain quality will be evaluated in the best way.
